But the name Jesus taught us to pray first was "Our Father." God knows that what we need most is a good Father.

“There is a popular teaching that God can’t stand sin, thus God can’t be in the presence of sin. It goes like this: God is holy and loving; you are a sinner; God hates sin and can’t be in sin’s presence; don’t worry, the cross brings good news because now the God no longer sees you but instead looks at Christ and his cross.

I have been frozen like that. Have you, too?

This fact changes the Parable of the Lost Sheep for me. It's not just a stubbornness or rebelliousness that leads me to walk away from safety and find myself so lost. It's me becoming frozen in fear, I'm stuck. I can't move forward or backward, I'm overwhelmed, I'm in overwhelmed land again. Here is where God finds me every time. I am the lost sheep...still.
